What are the terms of engagement with BrightSource?
BrightSource will propose terms depending on the scope required by the client. What will the gas market analysis tell me?
The BrightSource WA Gas Market analysis is the only detailed study of the gas supply chain in Western Australia. It provides specific data on gas availability, facility by facility, seller by seller and aggregates that data to provide critical insights on current and forecast supply and demand balances. This analysis, backed up by market experience, explores implications for gas prices and other terms of supply. It also includes discussion of gas transport and storage infrastructure, their costs and availability and importance in the gas supply chain. It is essential for informing ‘infrequent’ buyers who typically contract for energy every few years.
How can I contract gas to provide firming support for renewables?
Gas suppliers and pipeline owners preferred contracting model is fixed daily commitment – whether actually used or not (take-or-pay). This is a challenge for consumers who use on site or contracted renewable energy that, by it’s nature, is intermittent in supply. Gas is now the preferred ‘firming’ option to support renewable energy, but in that role is also only required intermittently. How can a gas buyer manage this mis-match in supply and demand? BrightSource has detailed knowledge of the WA gas market can optimise any supply profile by utilising the inherent but typically unutilised flexibility in the gas supply chain. If you work for multiple clients, how can I be sure of confidentiality?
BrightSource will execute formal confidentiality agreements on engagement. More importantly, BrightSource recognises that commercial arrangements must remain confidential to clients to retain trust and support open working relationships. By doing this, BrightSource is able to leverage the benefits of real market experience and knowledge for direct benefit of all clients, while protecting the specific client information gained in each consulting engagement.
Is there a conflict of interest from working across all elements of the supply chain?
BrightSource focuses on providing consulting services and support to consumers in the WA Gas market. Sellers of gas and other forms of energy are typically very well informed and organised in engaging with the market and do not contract services from BrightSource. In this context, BrightSource specialises in supporting energy and infrastructure contracting from the consumer perspective and leverages experience in dealing with multiple clients to ensure an appropriate balance of information between gas seller and buyer.
Are gas prices going up or coming down?
In recent months that have tracked higher – but a well informed and organised gas buyer can still contract gas on attractive terms. Contact BrightSource to find out how.
